Nate wanted you back.
It might be the worst thing he's ever realised in his entire life the fact that the warmth in his chest that he felt with you was a feeling he'd only ever feel with you. It wasn't like when he was with Blair, sure, the majority of his life was with her, but you just made him feel a whole different kind of way. Even if you're a stone cold bitch, mean as fuck. He'd met his fair share of people like that, literally, Blair was pretty similar, and they hadn't worked out.
But you? Damn it, you're just.. beyond.
He hates the fact that he's so head over heels in love with you, absolutely infatuated with you despite the fact that the two of you broke up. He can't even remember why you two of you had broken up in the first place, he's blinded by his love for you.
That is probably the reason why he still wants you so desperately despite the fact you're the way you are.
People either love you or loathe you, and Nate knows exactly which one he is. Which is why the fact you won't even speak to him pisses him off so much. He just.. wants a few moments of your time to plead his case, to convince you that the two of you should try again and that he was an idiot for breaking up with you in the first place. But the entire night you've been swarmed by your little entourage of girls, giggling and laughing, ignoring him when the two of you have made eye contact more than a few times by now.
"You think you're so funny, don't you?" It had taken a while, he'd done a lot of pleading with Chuck to distract your friends to try finally get your attention, but here he was. Up on the balcony, looking out at the streets below. It's similar to how it was when the two of you broke up, which keeps ringing in his head as he looks at you. He doesn't know whether he's lucky or unlucky that it's your birthday party—you look stunning. It's distracting.
"I've been trying to talk to you all day," he tries, stepping closer to get your attention. You can't get out of this one. "Give me a chance."
