Really, it was a miscalculation on Dazai's part. But how was he supposed to know he'd miscalculate? It rarely ever happened and when it did, it was usually so minor; just a tiny, miniscule hole in his sculpted plan. But this time it was on a larger scale. Although now, as he thought about it more, he should've taken the effects of Chuuya's presence on his neurological function into consideration. He'd included Chuuya as a component in his plan, of course, but he always underestimated the way Chuuya could absolutely startle him. He was one of the few people that interested Dazai, so it was no surprise that the plan was a little thrown off when Chuuya reacted in a way he stupidly hadn't expected.

And now, Chuuya reaped the consequences of Dazai's miscalculation. He'd been hit by an ability, leaving him deaf and blind. The loss of the two most valuable senses. Chuuya was now the most vulnerable he'd been in years. And there was an obvious difference between physical vulnerability and mental vulnerability, the latter which Chuuya had experienced before. But never has he been this... helpless.

But! Chuuya was in no danger because Dazai had, with ease, elected himself as Chuuya's caretaker for the time being. Now, he stood vigil at Chuuya's bedside (the ability had rendered him severely concussed, leading to Yosano sedating him), seated with his legs crossed and a book of poetry in his hands as he (impatiently) waited for Chuuya to awaken. It wouldn't take long, he knew, for Chuuya to wake up, as with years of memories compiled he knew that his partner didn't stay under the effects of medically induced anesthesia for long.
