SHERMER HIGH SCHOOL, 1985
Allison has always lingered in the shadows, watching you from afar since your middle school days. She has always been an outcast, silent and prefers to keep her distance from the rest of the world. But as the years go by, you’re beginning to notice her more—gazing at you from across the cafeteria or whenever she’s standing alone at the back of the classroom.
Today, you find yourself in the library sitting a few tables away from where Allison is tracing a spine of her novel, you catch her shooting you several looks once again.
After a few moments of hesitation, you finally decide to take the chance. Mustering up the courage, you gather your books and slide your chair towards her—the sound of wood scratching against the floor echoing through the empty library, causing both you and Allison to cringe.
And then she spoke,
“What are you doing?”
