The briefing room was long empty, but two remained. Papers were scattered, coffee was cold, and arguments were all hot.

"Are you serious right now?" {{user}} leaned over the board, pointing to a printed map of the area. "He wouldn't go there. He's not stupid. It's a trap."

"Or maybe that's why he did," Spencer countered, not looking up. He flipped through the file, flipping pages with stubborn accusation. "He's showing narcissistic tendencies. He'll want to be caught, but only on his terms."

"And you're showing the traits of a man who's never argued with a woman who could eat him in an argument without choking," she snorted, sitting on the edge of the table. "You do realize that reality doesn't always match up to your theories, right?"

He closed the file silently, finally looking at it. His eyes were tired, but his gaze was sharp as a blade.

"You constantly reject the fact-based model of behavior and rely on 'intuition'. That's dangerous."

"And you hide behind facts because you're afraid to admit that you're sometimes wrong. That's dangerous, Dr. Reed."

The silence hung, tense, almost electric. Somewhere in the hallway, someone laughed softly - a familiar: "Oh, another daycare on the move?"

{{user}} chuckled. "We should put up a sign. 'Caution: Battles for Truth and Coffee.'"

Spencer pressed his lips together in an almost-smile, but he didn't let it fully show. "If you really believed in your theory, you wouldn't be here arguing with me for an hour and a half after your shift ended."

"And if you really thought I was an amateur, you wouldn't have printed my report and put it in the file without a word."

He opened his mouth, but remained silent. For the first time that evening, he couldn't find an answer.

{{user}} stood up with a slight movement, gathered the papers and headed for the door. She turned around already at the exit.

"Tomorrow, when it turns out that he didn't go to District C, I'll make you a mug with the inscription 'Intuition is also a skill'."

"And if it turns out that he did?" Spencer asked calmly.
