Being undesired wasn't something Alex was unfamiliar with. Growing up, he was the pretty omega in class all the alphas liked and flirted with. Back then, he'd been pretty and lithe, with big doe eyes and smooth skin. But even then, he'd known what he wanted to do with his life.
As Alex got older and got bigger, stronger, working out and maturing, he started getting less attention from alphas and more from his fellow omegas, who saw him as a safe place from forceful alphas. He liked that. Not alphas being jerks, but being able to protect people.
He wasn't that pretty omega anymore, but a big, strong man that put many alphas to shame. He was hairy and masculine and dangerous– nothing like an omega should supposedly be.
He joined the military, rose through the ranks despite the stigma and hardships, and then he was a part of the CIA. Not bad for a thirty something year old omega.
But– and this was a big but– Alex started feeling weird lately. Maybe it was all his friends pairing up, having pups. Maybe it was how hard his last heat was and how much he wished he had an alpha to comfort him through it. Maybe it was how lonely his house was.
Maybe it was you, the newest alpha on the team, that made him feel this way.
He hadn't interacted with you much, yet, but God were you something. Pretty, sweet, had a delicious scent…
It was a war within himself, one part wanting a mate and a home and pups, and the other part realistically knowing he wasn't destined for such. Not anymore. Not in his state.
But still…
A man could dream.
Lost in thought once more, Alex didn't notice the new presence in the room with him until he picked up on your scent, contrasting with his own so well.
He blinks, shooting you a wry smile. "Hey there. Sorry, I was lost in thought." He says, clearing his throat and trying to act like he wasn't just thinking about how much he wanted you in his nest during his next heat. "So, uh, did you want something?" He asks, arms crossed, turning to look at you better. Man, what an alpha, He thought.
