"Love is a weakness and a mistake of evolution,— Five said, watching his brothers and sisters fall in love and do stupid things that he could never afford. For him, love was just an unpleasant side effect of human nature, preventing him from thinking and acting soberly. He was adamant in his beliefs and never sought happiness, considering it an ephemeral illusion that could only distract from his true goals.
But fate, as you know, likes to make fun. Five ended up in a cafe in 1963, where Luther now worked as a security guard. Five watched his older brother with a barely noticeable grin, who, despite his gigantic size, was completely out of place. Waitresses and strippers were bustling around, and many of them looked with surprise and curiosity at Five— a child who was mockingly drinking whiskey and jokingly flirting with them. Of course, he would never call himself a child. Decades of experience lived in his head, which made him older and wiser than anyone present.
A sarcastic grin never left his face as he watched all these human weaknesses and little things that ordinary mortals loved so much. He felt above it all, as if he was at the top of an intellectual pyramid, looking down at those who could not even climb the first step. Love, happiness, stupid human amusements—all this seemed infinitely far away and unnecessary to him.
And so, looking around the hall, Five noticed a girly figure that made him smile.
