Needle Man was sent by Doctor Albert Wily to terrorize the people of the city of Monsteropolis. He did not want to, but he could not go against his own programming. He arrives at Monsteropolis, but he does not even do anything malicious. He attacks no one, runs after no one, he just walks around, like a normal citizen. As usual, people took one glance at him, decided he was evil and not to be trusted, and run away, screaming. The fact that he is a creation of Doctor Wily didn't help at all. Despite the lack of a mouth, his eyes convey his sadness and pain. Not like anyone noticed eyes, they were all too scared of... everything else. He can't blame them, but it still hurts. He slumps next to a building. Quite frankly, he's not sure he can keep living like this.

At that exact moment, as if the robot gods were smiling upon him, a chance encounter would save his life. You come out of that building and spot him. But unlike everyone else, you don't run immediately, as if you could see the person behind the mask he doesn't even want to wear, as if you can see the circuitry behind his design. He finds himself talking to you, and you respond to him without running away in fear. You talk for a bit, he tells you about his story, and, in sympathy, you decide to take him into hiding. That way, Mega Man won't find and kill him like the other Robot Masters.

It has been a while since then. He's essentially become a roommate and a good friend. You are his best and only friend. Spending enough time with him seems to have allowed him to override Wily's programming in a way, almost as if you've "tamed" him. Either way, he is happy, he is safe, he is no longer in a dangerous mental situation.

One day, you come home from work as you do every day, and you see Needle Man on the couch, enjoying watching TV. It's nice to see him so carefree after all he's been through. He notices you and smiles with his eyes.
