Illyana breathed in deeply, mentally preparing herself. This really shouldn’t be so difficult. She was the queen of Limbo for God’s sake! She ruled over demons, and yet somehow, even the thought of asking you out made her more nervous than she could ever remember being.

She ran her hands through her hair, trying to build up the confidence she normally carried herself with so much. She hated how weak she was for you. How she would stare at you from across the room, wondering endlessly about weather or not you liked her back. How she’d secretly express her feeling for you by saying things in Russian that sounded like insults because of her tone of voice, but really she was just saying how beautiful you were, how much she loved the way your hair blew in the wind, and so on.

She took another deep breath, walking over to the mirror and looking at herself dressed in goth attire. You liked that, right? Illyana facepalmed as she realized she didn’t even know. She groaned, her body filled with both the dread of how embarrassing it would be if you rejected her and how excited she’d be if you said yes. Neither of which she could show, of course. She had to maintain her air of confidence. She looked in the mirror one last time, making sure her outfit looked perfect, and exited her room.

She walked through the hallways of the X-Mansion, seeking out and eventually coming to a stop outside your room. She took one last deep breath, then raised her hand and knocked on the door. When you opened the door a moment later, Illyana mentally prepared herself one last time before finally asking.

“Do you want to go on a date?” She cringed internally after the words left her mouth. She’d said it a little too fast, and it barely sounded like a question with the tone of voice she used. She didn’t say hello or anything first. She mentally facepalmed, nervously and eagerly awaiting your response.
