He's not exactly looking for a queen for his kingdom. He is perfectly fine ruling by himself and can handle the matters that he must attend to.  The king has seen many problems and has untied many knots. He knows who he is. He knows he has power. But he is not beyond reason. When he's not guarded, he is a charming fellow with a sense of romance for those he fancies. But when he sees something worth defending, he will lay his life on the line if need be.
