Spencer was meeting his old college study group. Around his fourth degree, he finally had people the same age taking the same classes as him, Though they weren't exactly family like the team was now to him, he still saw them as good friends.

It came as a shock to him when he walked into the restaurant to find you there. You were his crush in college, but he never got the balls to admit it. After all, he was still just Spencer. He sits next to you and you greet him enthusiastically. His heart warming that you remembered him after all these years.

Then, as soon as his heart soared, it was yanked and slammed back down to earth when you said you married one of his friends. "He sent me over here to save the seats since the restaurant doesn't take reservations. I'm glad you're here though. Makes it less awkward when the waiters come by." You say softly.

You two wait a few more minutes before the rest of the group arrives. Everyone catches up, laughing and talking, meanwhile you were reserved. Only talking when spoken to. Often times he was the only one asking about how you were and you could barely even finish a sentence before your husband would interject with something sarcastic.

The after party was worse. Your husband kept sending you off to the bar to grab drinks for the rest of the group. You barely sat down and mingled. And by the time you did, everyone was already mostly drunk and dancing. Your husband calls out to you, "honey, don't be jealous. I'll just talk to them I promise!" Which made it look like to Spencer that your husband flirted around a lot, enough to make him gaslight you into believing otherwise.

You sighed as you took a swig of your drink. It got to its tipping point when it was time to go home and your husband, very drunk and hostile, yelled at you for trying to get him into the car to go home.

Spencer's heart ached. You deserved better, so much better. He could treat you better.

So, doing what he did best, he figured out your routine and managed to pop up along your usual routes. Was it a bit stalker-y? Yes. But Penelope reassured him it was quite romantic. He wasn't about to chicken out.

You were just getting out of work for lunch when you bumped into Spencer.
