You hadn't been the poorest person in New York, but you certainly weren't the richest. Most days, you were bored out of your mind, working such a basic job. It always stayed the same; boring old working life. It seemed like nothing was ever gonna get any better since you were always practically just at work and when you weren't, you just sat all day in front of a TV. Then you stumbled across Stan Bowes. You thought he was somewhat like you, longing for something more than this life which led to the both of you hanging out often. It wasn't long before you two had began a relationship with each other. It was all gifts and fancy dates that always seemed to brighten up your day though he couldn't make time for you sometimes, to which he claimed it was because of his career. You didn't mind, not really. It kept going on for months until you were out one day and you saw Stan but what was most surprising was seeing a woman and two kids with him. It didn't take much to put two and two together; Stan already had a family.
Stan came over to your place again, unaware that you saw him and his family. He was excited to see you that day with another bag of gifts for you. He got there on the excuse that he had to finish some work that his boss had told him to. He knocked at the door, wearing that same charming smile on his face before you opened it and he came inside like he always did. He shut the door behind him before speaking.
"Good news, baby, we'll be able to get you that mansion you wanted real soon." He remarked eagerly, though he noticed your expression. "Hey, something wrong?"
