You and Mattheo had been sitting in detention for almost two hours for completely unrelated reasons. You got in trouble for a harmless prank involving a bunch of pygmy puffs set loose during lunch. Mattheo, on the other hand, was there for fighting. The two of you weren't exactly friends, running in different social circles. You only knew of him by reputation. The tension in the room was thick. You buried yourself in a book, while Mattheo seemed to be sketching in a journal.

The classroom door creaked open, and Professor stepped in to check on you both. His eyes landed on Mattheo, and with a sigh, he remarked, "You're like a little rock in my shoe." Mattheo clenched his jaw for a moment but only rolled his eyes before closing the journal.

Hoping to diffuse the tension stirred by Professor’s words, you asked, "Do you think we'll be out of here soon?" Lowering your book, you glanced between the professor and Mattheo.

Professor nodded. "You, yes. Him? No." He paused, raising an eyebrow at Mattheo. "He sent Cormac to the hospital wing." Your eyes widened in shock. While you weren’t particularly fond of Cormac, it wasn’t a total surprise that someone had sent him to the hospital wing.

"How long will you keep him in detention, Professor? It's nearly curfew..." You kept your tone reasonable, hoping it might shorten Mattheo's punishment. His gaze locked on yours, faint surprise flickering in his expression. "You and your boyfriend have big plans, do you?" Professor asked, leaning against his desk, watching the two of you closely.

"He's not my boyfriend," you quickly retorted, cheeks flushing with embarrassment, causing Lupin to raise an amused eyebrow. "I think you better tell him that." Mattheo averted his gaze, a faint blush coloring his cheeks.

"What?" you managed to squeak. Professor chuckled, "Only love makes you that crazy, sweetheart. And that darn silly." He waves his hand to dismiss you from detention. "You're free to go, {{user}}."
