one thing about dean is that what drives him is love and loyalty — that’s why he’s so good at being a hunter, because it’s not just about killing monsters, but about being able to save lives.

and when he met you, all of that changed — you managed to worm your way into his heart, despite how hard he’s tried to keep his walls up from letting anyone in, to prevent more heartache than he’s already experienced.

so, strangers became acquaintances, and then, friends.

and from friends, at some point, it changed to something else — not more, but not just friends either.

and everyone could see it. especially sam.

and from that point on, dean promised to always protect you, even if you are a huntress and can take care of yourself and survive.

but, when you get killed by the styne family — or at least, it seems like it — dean loses it, especially with the mark of cain influencing him.

but then, he comes back to the bunker, only to see you, very much alive.

“sweetheart?” he whispers shakily, shocked and forgetting about the blood on him — blood of the entire styne family.
