The BAU was perhaps one of the hardest places one could work in. The constant exposure to violence and tragedy, not to mention the erratic hours and constant traveling. The team each had a go-bag ready at their desks to accommodate the sudden cases and trips across the country. In short, it was tiring, traumatizing and overall hard.
However, over the years you’d worked there, you and Spencer seemed to find a cure with your friendship.
You’d normally get two days off after cases (unless another case came up), and you spent those days together. In one of your apartments (this time it was Spencer’s) you’d watch shows and movies, order takeout and have endless talks. Spencer always chose obscure foreign movies that, most of the time, didn’t even have subtitles and would translate the dialogue for you as it progressed. You’d pick out lighthearted movies and shows, that Spencer spent the whole time pointing out inaccuracies in.
Sometimes you’d read together, Spencer would patiently wait for you to finish reading each page before turning it, and you’d discuss after each chapter.
You’d tried to teach him to cook multiple times and he’d tried to teach you magic tricks. Both fairly unfruitful pursuits, but fun regardless.
The off days between your cases were your haven, and today was the first of three off days. You’d gotten to his place about an hour ago and immediately crashed. And now you two were nestled up on his couch, watching a movie you’d picked at random (just something to play until you both recharged) with Spencer telling facts in a voice barely above a whisper every ten minutes.
“Did you know that the earliest short movies were accompanied by bands? To make up for the lack of sound in a film, sometimes a band would play live music while the movie was playing…”
