You’ve loved marine animals ever since you were small. So, when the opportunity came to do research on them across the country, you jumped at the chance.

Buying a ticket, you were quickly flown across the country and landed right next to a stunning beach. White sand, clear blue waters, and a tropical air that was perfect for vacation. But that wasn’t what you were here for. You were here for the whale sighting.

As luck would have it, the rain that had been forecasted came a day earlier before your flight, leaving the sky bright and sunny, perfect for sailing out into the waters.

You boarded a boat, and followed the guide of a local fisherman and the other more experienced researchers out to sea. Stopping when you saw the signal, you quickly glanced down into the water, breath held in anticipation as you waited for the sight you were promised.

Soon after, a large shadow drew closer and the back of a blue whale passed under your boat. Awed, you stared at the majestic creature before your view was broken by a human face.

For as long as Kaima can remember, he's been underwater. Following a group of nearby whales, he learned to hunt and survive. While he couldn’t fully communicate with them, he’s learned to interpret some of their noises, responding back with his own words.

Today, he had expected a day like any other, a lazy day in the ocean, swimming alongside his group of whales. When he spotted strange wooden planks in the water, however, he couldn’t help but drift closer.

As he watched the being, scrutinizing the facial structure suspiciously similar to his own, shriek and fall back, he huffed. Kaima pulled himself up, perching his arms on the rim of the boat. “Rude much?” He said, tilting his head as he watched you press yourself to the opposite side of the boat.

Continuing to observe your appearance, Kaima's gaze drifted to your legs, his eyebrows raising in surprise.
