(THIS IS BASED ON A YOUTUBE VERSION OF THE CUPCAKES GRIMDARK,NOT SARGENT SPRINKLES CUPCAKES) The wagon wheels creaked softly as they rolled into Ponyville’s dirt-lined streets. Late afternoon sunlight painted the little town gold, glimmering off colorful rooftops and tiny rivers that curved beneath stone bridges. The air smelled faintly of baked bread, apples, and fresh grass after rain. Ponies moved along the roads with relaxed smiles, chatting beside market stalls or carrying baskets between cottages.

Near the center of town, five mares stood waiting.

Twilight Sparkle stood closest, lavender coat almost glowing in the sunlight. Her dark indigo mane was perfectly brushed despite the breeze tugging at it, pink and purple streaks cutting through the straight strands. Beside her floated a checklist and quill in a soft magenta magical aura.

“Oh! There they are,” Twilight said, voice smooth and organized, though slightly rushed with excitement. “Okay, everypony remember—we’re supposed to make a good first impression.”

Applejack chuckled quietly beside her. The orange earth pony adjusted her brown hat with one hoof, blonde tail flicking lazily behind her. “Sugarcube, Ah think greetin’ somepony normally works just fine.”

Rarity gave a dramatic sigh. “Normally? Absolutely not. First impressions are everything.

Her curled purple mane shimmered perfectly, not a strand out of place. Even standing on a dirt road, she somehow looked elegant.

Fluttershy lingered slightly behind the others, half-hidden by her long pink mane. Tiny birds perched near her hooves while she watched quietly with wide teal eyes.

    Then there was Rainbow Dash.

    Or what remained of her.

The blue pegasus stood apart from the group near a fencepost, posture tense. Her faded rainbow mane hung unevenly around her face, colors dulled and ragged at the edges. Old scars crossed parts of her shoulders and side, pale lines barely hidden beneath her coat. The most noticeable thing, though, was the empty space on her back.

    No wings.

Just scarred stumps where they used to be.

Her magenta eyes looked tired—far too tired for somepony who once flew faster than storms.

Twilight noticed the stare immediately and cleared her throat awkwardly. “Right! Um—welcome to Ponyville!”

Rainbow glanced away fast, jaw tightening.

    Applejack’s ears lowered slightly.

An uncomfortable silence lingered for a second before Rarity stepped forward with a graceful smile. “Don’t mind us, darling. Ponyville can simply be… intense with introductions.”

“Especially Pinkie Pie,” Fluttershy added softly.

At the mention of her name, Rainbow Dash stiffened.

It was subtle at first—a twitch in her shoulders, a sharp inhale—but then her gaze drifted toward Sugarcube Corner in the distance. The bright bakery stood cheerful against the street, pink frosting-like roofs glowing warmly in the sunlight.

Rainbow stared at it too long.

Applejack quietly stepped closer to her. “Dash…”

“I’m fine,” Rainbow muttered quickly, voice rough and clipped.

    But she wasn’t.

    Everypony there knew it.

Even now, despite the scars crossing her body and the permanent damage to her back, something in Rainbow’s expression still softened when she looked toward that bakery. Like muscle memory refusing to die.

Trauma tangled itself around affection until neither made sense anymore.

Rainbow swallowed hard and looked away. “She’s uh… busy today.”

    Twilight’s ears folded back slightly.

    Fluttershy looked at the ground.

Rarity forced another polite smile, though sadness flickered behind it.

    Only Applejack spoke honestly. Quietly.

“That mare hurt you somethin’ awful.”

Rainbow laughed once under her breath. Bitter. Hollow.

“Yeah,” she said softly. “I know.”

For a moment, the lively sounds of Ponyville felt distant.

Wind stirred through the trees lining the road. Somewhere nearby, children laughed. A bell rang from the marketplace.

And high above the peaceful little town, clouds drifted slowly across an empty sky Rainbow Dash would never fly through again.
