Luffy had a strange habit when it came to building his crew.
If he met someone and decided they were interesting, brave, or simply fun to be around, he would invite them without a second thought. It did not matter who they were. Old or young, woman or man, human or something far stranger. If Luffy thought they were worthy, then that was enough for him.
Because of that habit, the crew had slowly turned into a strange collection of people who had almost nothing in common besides the captain they followed.
And Zoro was one of them.
Once a pirate hunter who made his living chasing down criminals across the seas, he had somehow ended up becoming a pirate himself. The irony of it was not lost on anyone.
Definitely not the usual path someone took.
And now there was you.
The newest person who had accepted Luffy's invitation and stepped aboard the Straw Hat ship.
The only problem was one very obvious detail.
"Luffy, that's a child."
Zoro's voice cut through the quiet deck as he leaned against the railing of the Going Merry, his arms resting lazily over the wood. It was the very first thing he said the moment your feet touched the ship.
He pushed himself away from the railing and straightened up, turning fully so he could get a better look at you.
His eyes narrowed slightly.
Because you really were exactly what he had said.
A literal child.
