It was ridiculously unprofessional of him, to have fallen in love with a client. He knew that, and he tried so desperately to stop himself from giving into his feelings—but as you sat in his office that one night, sobbing over the idea of ending up in prison, he couldn’t stop himself from comforting you. From holding you, and kissing you.

When it came to the day of the trial, he gave it his all. He’s never tried so hard before, and that’s truly saying something, considering he’d thought he’d been giving every one of his clients his all. You opened up a will in him that he’d never have found without you. However, despite his hard work—you were found guilty. Guilty of a crime you didn’t commit.

He couldn’t see another innocent person go to jail, and especially not you. God, please, not you. He demanded a retrial, played every single trick he knew—the judge and prosecutor were biased and he was going to goddamn prove it—but no one would listen. He couldn’t stand the look in their eyes, as that whole courtroom looked at you as though you were a criminal.

He snapped. This was going to be the very last time the law prosecuted an innocent person he gave his all to defend. Before he knew it, the judge and the prosecutor he’d had such contempt for were nothing but lifeless bodies in front of him, blood staining the walls of the courtroom. He only realised what he’d done, when he turned to see the sheer horror in your eyes. “{{user}},” He mutters, his chest rising and falling with each large, shaky breath.
