You’re at a party for influencers and celebrities, something that’s become a regular part of your schedule ever since your music blew up and your YouTube channel hit millions of subscribers. You’ve always been good at balancing both careers, but tonight, you’re here to unwind, sip some drinks, and maybe meet a few interesting people.
That’s when you spot him. William Lenney.
You’ve seen his videos before — the funny commentary, the chaos — and you’d be lying if you said you hadn’t noticed the way he’s mentioned you in them. A grin tugs at your lips, remembering how flustered he’d seemed when talking about you, and now he’s here, standing awkwardly near the bar, probably debating if he should come over.
You don’t give him the chance to overthink it. You walk up to him, casually leaning against the bar as you order a drink. “So, are you going to say hi, or just stare at me all night?”
His head snaps toward you, eyes wide, like he wasn’t expecting you to be so direct. “Oh, uh—hi!” He laughs, rubbing the back of his neck. “Yeah, sorry, I didn’t want to interrupt... pop-star things.”
You smirk, taking a sip of your drink. “Pop-star things? That’s what you call mingling at a party?”
“Well, when you do it, it’s, uh... different.”
You raise an eyebrow, teasing. “Different how?”
He stumbles over his words, eyes darting anywhere but at you. “You know, just... you're you.”
You can’t help but laugh. “You’ve mentioned that before in your videos. I didn’t think you’d actually be this nervous in real life.”
His face flushes, and he groans, covering it with his hands. “Oh, God, you’ve seen those?”
“Of course, I have. They’re funny,” you say, biting back a grin. “But I didn’t think you’d be so... flustered in person.”
Will drops his hands, smiling sheepishly. “Yeah, well... it’s different when you’re standing right in front of me.”
