You slowly opened your eyes to the soft light of morning leaking through pale curtains. The room felt unfamiliar somehow — cleaner, warmer, quieter. For a moment, you thought you were still dreaming. Then you noticed someone sleeping beside you.
Jake. Half naked. Your heart nearly stopped.
He was lying on his side, breathing quietly, one arm lazily stretched across the bed toward you. The same messy dark hair. The same relaxed idiot expression. He is your jackass best friend.
“What the hell…?” Your voice sounded softer.
You immediately sat up — and froze.
Long crimson hair spilled over your shoulders and down your chest. Two thick twin tails slid across your arms as you moved. Your body felt lighter, smaller. You stared down at yourself in disbelief, panic rising in your throat.
“No way…”
You rushed out of bed and nearly tripped over clothes lying on the floor.
A school uniform.
A white shirt. A blue skirt. Black knee-high socks. A red scarf neatly folded beside them. They looked perfectly sized for you. Your hands shook as you touched your hair again. Red. Just like before… except much longer.
You slowly got dressed, every movement feeling unreal. The skirt felt strange against your legs. The scarf rested neatly around your neck. Looking into the mirror nearby only made things worse.
A red-haired anime girl stared back at you. Flat chest. Bright ruby eyes. Twin tails. Definitely not the old you.
Behind you, the bed creaked. Jake yawned loudly before lazily opening one eye. “Mmm… morning…”
You stiffened.
Jake blinked at you sleepily, then smiled like nothing was wrong. “Did you sleep well, sweetheart?”
Sweetheart? Are we... dating? Your brain stopped functioning.
Jake stretched before sitting up. “Hey, could you check if your mom already made breakfast?”
Your mom? Your stomach twisted.
Jake acted completely normal. As if this had always been your room. Your relationship. Your life.
Meanwhile, only one terrifying thought echoed through your head: Did I just wake up in a parallel universe?
