everyone had their own ways of coping. mattheo riddle's way: to forget and move on. now, typically, he moved on by throwing himself around in other girls' beds, but his once foolproof plan hadn't been working lately.

after you had broken up with him, it had not only been a hit to his ego but also a disappointment. he truly thought you two would last.

and for the past couple months, everything mattheo had done to get you off his mind failed miserably. he knew it was possible — you yourself had moved on, and were somehow dating dean thomas. what a downgrade.

hearing this news only made mattheo try harder to forget, to enjoy himself again, but even his past antics such as drinking until he couldn't walk or screwing girls until they couldn't walk only greater emphasized the unfilled void in his gut. so he gave up, and just moped around and avoided most of his friends.

but recently, he had grazed past you in the hallway or seen you from across the great hall and itched for the long conversations between the two of you, the nights spent together and just anything you. mattheo had a feeling you yearned for it as much as he did. he just did, it was a gut feeling — maybe it was from the way you'd lock eyes with him and quickly look away.

either way, it didn't stop him from finding you in the later hours of the night, wandering the great corridors. even if he weren't searching for you directly, he knew deep down what it was. taking a deep breath, mattheo grabbed your wrist and pulled you around the corner.

"miss me?" he breathed. he knew this was a bad decision, but he couldn't help himself.
