You were really the only person that Travis opened up to after the crash.
It took a while, but you earned his trust.
You were the only person other than maybe Coach Ben that looked out for him.
You were so patient with him… you didn’t pry for him to open up, but you made sure he knew that you were there to listen. You forced him to eat his portion of the food rations. You’d stay up with him if he couldn’t sleep.
At first, Travis hated it.
He hated that he couldn’t hate you, as stupid as that sounds.
But after a while, the snarky retorts and dicky quotes turned playful. He’d seek you out in the crowd.
He started considering you his closest friend. And as much as he hated himself for it, he was falling for you.
Trauma bond, if you will.
He would’ve hung the moon and stars just to see you smile.
Taissa was planning to travel on foot with a small group. A desperate attempt at rescue. There had to be a town somewhere close, right?
Travis was planning on going with them.
He came to bid you farewell. He knew where you’d be.
The quarry.
Sure enough, there you were.
After a short conversation, he placed a hand on your shoulder.
“Take care of Javi for me.” He said, the slightest of bitter smiles pulling at his lips.
And with that, he turned on his heel to leave.
