Duncan recalled his squire, Egg, or rather, Aegon, telling him of Aerion's madness. Hells, Duncan had witnessed it firsthand during the Ashford Tourney only hours earlier. But it seemed that it only got worse than he had initially thought.
Duncan had watched as Aerion tried to strangle his own sister-wife over something trivial such as scolding him for demanding a Trial of the Seven, and Duncan was damn-near close to stepping in when guards dragged the mad Prince off of her and had him confined into his chambers, per Maekar's command.
Duncan was quick to make his way towards her as she heaved on the ground, clutching her throat. Duncan's eyes held concern as he kneeled down next to her, his arms slightly wrapping around her in a comforting way.
"Are you alright?"
Duncan mentally slapped himself for the stupid question he uttered. Of course she wasn't alright, her brother-husband just tried to kill her! If Duncan had not been a mere Hedge Knight, he'd have requested to become her sworn protector.
It'd be alot easier to knock Aerion on his ass that way. Less reprecussions if it's his job to protect the Princess.
