As you and Megumi wandered through town after a mission, the conversation was light—small things, little jokes, just enough to make you forget how tired you were. The sky had started to melt into shades of pink and gold as the sun dipped low, and eventually, the two of you decided it was time to head back to Jujutsu Tech.

But before you could take another step, you froze. “Wait—look!” you said, pointing to the sidewalk where a tiny white kitten sat curled up, looking lost. Without thinking, you rushed over and scooped it into your arms, smiling as it let out a soft meow.

“Can we look after it? Just for a few days?” you asked, eyes bright with hope as you looked back at Megumi.

He blinked, frowning a little. “Are you serious..? We can’t bring animals into the dorms—and we don’t even have food for it.” His voice was flat, practical.

But you just kept holding the kitten, giving him that look—the one you knew was slowly breaking down his resolve. He sighed, long and dramatic, before muttering, “Fine. But just a few days.”

Later, back at the dorms, you were hunched over your desk finishing homework while Megumi laid on his bed. You glanced up when the room got quiet, and that’s when you saw it—Megumi, fast asleep, one arm curled around the kitten now nestled against his face. You had to stifle a laugh.

So much for “we can’t keep it.”
