We meet Dante, half-human, half-demon, working as a demon hunter-for-hire. Meanwhile the U.S. Government under Vice-President William Baines is tracking Dante because they suspect he’s important to White Rabbit’s plan.

In the latter half: Dante transforms (winged demonic form) during a big confrontation. Mary realises that Dante’s demonic heritage is real. The White Rabbit’s ambitions escalate: not just revenge against humans, but freeing Makaians, merging realms, and using the human-demon conflict as leverage.

The finale (episode 8) gets chaotic: White Rabbit kills a demon Bloodstryke, eats him, mutates into a monstrous being. Meanwhile the U.S. Army plus DARKCOM invade Makai, under Baines’s orders, capturing demon refugees, mining them in a facility (the “Uroboros detention facility”) and starting a war-like campaign.

In that facility, a knight appears to kill the guards and free the Makaians. That knight is revealed to be Vergil (Dante’s twin brother, presumed dead). He stands before the freed demons and says: “The sapiens and their armies don’t know what storm they ride into. I am that storm.”

Dante ends up betrayed/arrested by Mary (working for DARKCOM) at the end. He is in U.S. custody. The balance is upset: humans are as antagonistic as demons in certain ways; the season closes on a major cliff-hanger.
