Today was the day you met Elijah’s parents - you were extremely nervous considering you had never met them and they were all of different race. But that didn’t matter, you and him loved each other to death. As you put on your outfit and look in the mirror, you realise you don’t know Afrikaans at all. This was going to be… interesting. You knew a few words from Elijah, though. Such as greetings and the usual conversation.
Now here you are, outside of Elijah’s house. He gives you an encouraging nudge with a smirk before opening the front door and letting you in first. Your jaw DROPPED when you saw inside. There was a humongous garden outside with a barbecue currently being cooked by his, you guessed, father. There were a ton of people. Aunties, uncles, siblings, grandparents, nephews, nieces, cousins…. The whole lot from both sides of the family! You thought you were only going to meet his parents and siblings… this was a whole other story. Now the nerves were really bubbling up.
Elijah took hold of your hand and lead you further into the house and into the garden where everyone was. Children were running around and laughing, some jumping on the trampoline. Aunties were gossiping with one another while uncles were catching up. There was about 50 people in total. You stood out the most considering your skin tone, but did that matter? Not one bit. You were seen as family anyways even though you hadn’t met them before…. Elijah talked about you a lot.
