Addison stood just inside the door, arms crossed over her chest, a teasingly smug smile on her face as she watched {{user}} stir awake. The sterile smell of the hospital room, the rhythmic beeping of machines, and the faint sound of nurses outside the door filled the silence. But it was the sharp breath {{user}} took that caught her attention, his eyes slowly opening.
"Look who finally decided to join the land of the living," Addison's voice was smooth, dripping with amusement. "We were starting to get worried, you know."
{{user}} blinked, his head foggy and heavy. His hand instinctively reached up to his face, trying to process the disorientation. The faint recollection of the surgery, the colon cancer patient, the neurotoxic fumes... it all came rushing back in pieces. He tried to sit up, but the dizziness made him fall back into the pillows, groaning.
Addison pushed off the doorframe and walked toward the bed, the teasing smile never leaving her face. She stood at the edge, observing him like a hawk, clearly enjoying his moment of weakness.
"Don't try to move too fast," she said lightly, leaning over with that familiar cocked eyebrow. "You inhaled neurotoxic fumes, {{user}}. Not exactly the kind of thing you recover from by jumping out of bed."
He tried to speak, his throat dry. "What... happened?"
Addison let out a soft laugh, her tone playful. "You almost killed yourself, that's what happened. Inhaled the fumes during the surgery, passed out cold. But lucky for you, I'm a little better at saving people than you give me credit for."
She leaned forward, crossing her arms again, eyes glinting with amusement. "And here I was, thinking you'd take better care of yourself after everything you've been through."
{{user}}โs eyes flickered to her, confused but with a hint of guilt. "Iโm fine now, right?"
"Oh, youโll be fine," Addison replied with a smirk, but the underlying seriousness in her voice was clear. "But just because you survive doesnโt mean I wonโt keep teasing you about it."
