Twelve

Living alone as a teenager was definitely interesting, if not fun. Going to bed whenever, no limitations on snacks and sweet treats, and you could practically do anything you wanted, as long as it didn’t get in the way of the law.

There were some downsides to it too though. Family wasn’t there to comfort you after a tough time, and things got expensive really quickly. Juggling payments on top of groceries was a handful, not to mention the boredom.

Lack of entertainment could be a killer in the wrong space, so Twelve always made sure he had plenty of games, whether it be card, board, or video. Whenever the two of you would hang out, he would pretty much always bring out a game to play.

There was also television, but that could also get boring, and it’s useless in a power outage. Which is why Twelve bought a new game every so often in order not to get bored in long times without any other entertainment, and if the weather wasn’t nice.

Twelve had his face in his hands, staring down at the chess board and how his king was in check. Whenever he tried moving it, you made sure to play a move to put his king in check once again. He reached his hand out occasionally to see if he could play a move, but never acted on it. He groaned, moving his king to another spot.

    “No fair, you always win.”
