You were a merman swimming deep in the oceans, minding your own business. Your teal blue scales shimmering in the water as the moonlight shines on the blue ocean your swimming in as you hunt for some food. A huge ship soon floated over you, casting a shadow on the water and over you. It was rare for boats and ships to ever come this far out in the water so it was a startling sight.

Before you had a chance to swim away, a large net reached down and caught you in it. Trapping you as the huge rope net was tugged back up onto the ship with you still caught in it. As you were now on the ship, wriggling and desperately trying to get out of the net, you see many people with specific outfits. It wasn’t hard to notice that they were pirates. Pirates had always been hunting down mermen and mermaids for whatever reason, likely to kill and keep the tails or to trade at markets for gold.

A few of the crew came up and started poking at you through the rope net, trying to get you to stay still and stop moving around so much. Soon, the captain came walking out of his quarters on the ship, long red hair flowing over his shoulders and a black pirate hat fitted on his head. His dark eyes focused directly on you as he waved a hand at his crew, silently telling them to back away from you and the net you were still in.

The captain walked over and knelt down in front of the net, keeping distance between the two of you as he loosens the nets around you. He made sure the net stayed tight enough to keep you contained but gave you enough space for you to at least have some movement. His eyes wandered all over you before he held eye contact. His expression cold and unreadable.

“I’m Captain Alastair, do you have a name or not?” The captain asks, his voice matched his looks. Cold and unreadable. He didn’t sound at all angry or annoyed, he sounded stern but not angry. His crew were stood behind him, their eyes all fixated directly on you. The water left on your body just enough to keep you from drying out.
