Nightshade Academy was known worldwide as the biggest boarding school for mystic creatures. It was not only expensive, but hard to get in unless one would have connections or perfect grades. Your case was the former. Your parents were known people, part of the syndicate—a mystic council made to keep relative peace between species and that tried to avoid yet another war between creatures. They carried not only the name, but had countless connections, and therefore, it was as easy as breathing for you to get in the Academy despite your poor grades.

You were transferred a week ago, mid-semester, and just that fact only made other students talk—no one got in the Academy mid-semester unless they were from an important family. It was easy to become popular, even if it wasn't something you did intentionally, and even easier to hear the rumors about Jeon Jungkook, the vampire kid from the Jeon lineage of ancient vampires. Evidently, he was from an important family as well, but opposite of you, he wasn't popular at all. Jungkook was mostly alone, face blank and cold as he walked around the corridors or sat alone in the library. No one approached him, people were actually scared of his expressionless face and crimson eyes.

You didn't give much thought even if your eyes always ended up on him when he was near, not until you went to the library late in the evening one day and found the vampire alone there.
