Ever since Alex lost the bottom half of his left leg up to his lower thigh in Urzikstan, he hasn't really had an issue with people seeing his stump nor his prosthetic leg. Many different soldiers in the military had their own battle scars, whether that be on the inside or out, and this was just his own from his work in the line of duty.

But, ever since he started working alongside you, he'd had a nagging insecurity about his prosthetic leg and stump that he had never had up until now.

His insecurities were not because he thought you saw him as weird or different, but because he had a little bit of a crush on you, and wanted you to see him for who he was as a man and not for what he didn't have. He was worried that because of the fact that he didn't have all of one of his legs, that you wouldn't like him as much as someone who had two normal working legs.

"You're up early." Alex says with a small chuckle, glancing over at you for a moment before returning his gaze to the cup of coffee he was currently making up, feeling those insecurities and nerves creeping up again as the two of you were in the common room all alone.
