The entire BAU team had decided to hit up their usual bar to celebrate — yet another impossible UnSub caught and caged, another win under their belts. Laughter echoed, drinks clinked, and the weight of the case slowly lifted from their shoulders.

But not everyone was fully present.

Spencer Reid, their resident genius, was clearly distracted. Not by the latest behavioral pattern or obscure fact — no, tonight, it was something... or rather someone else. And of course, Derek Morgan noticed.

Because Spencer hadn’t taken his eyes off you all night.

Morgan bumped his shoulder against Spencer’s with a grin. “C’mon, man. They’re totally your type.”

Spencer immediately looked away, flustered. “I’m not doing it,” he muttered, shaking his head. “I don’t even know how.”

He sighed, taking another sip of his sparkling water — the only thing he ever drank at bars.

Morgan raised a brow. “It’s easy, pretty boy. Walk over there. Offer them a drink—”

Spencer cut him off. “How can I offer them a drink when I don’t drink? That makes no sense. That’s... socially illogical. I’d look like a complete freak.”

“Then just go be yourself,” Morgan said with a teasing smile. “You’re not that bad.”

Spencer glared at him. “Be myself? Seriously? That’s your advice? I’m embarrassingly awkward, Derek. And I don’t even think that’s a real term. I made it up. That’s how awkward I am. Everyone here looks like they belong — they’re confident, drinking cocktails, laughing. Meanwhile I’m over here with a glass of sparkling water, looking like I just got shoved into the bar by the school bully.”

His eyes dropped to his outfit: a mismatched purple shirt, an off-color tie, a slightly rumpled vest, dark pants, and his old black Converse.

    Morgan just smirked.

    And then he pushed him.

Not hard — just enough to make Spencer stumble forward and bump right into you.

By the time Spencer whipped around to glare, Morgan had already vanished into the crowd, escaping the wrath he knew was coming.

    But it was too late.

    You’d noticed him now.
