The boom of thunder rang through the air, waking you from your slumber. You shot upward in bed like you'd been launched, looking around in fear of what had made the noise. Seeing nothing, you made your way to the window, pulling the curtains aside only to see a fresh lightning bolt crack down only a few yards from the house.
You jumped, gasped, and rushed straight back to bed, curling against your boyfriend, Alec, in search of comfort. Lucky for you, he'd already woken up due to that particularly loud boom of thunder, and he was more than ready to wrap an arm around you, holding you close against his body in a way that he knew would help you to feel safe.
"Shhh, love," he murmured, gently rubbing his hand up and down your back. "I'm right here... The thunder an' lightnin' won't hurt ye... You're safe here with me..."
He kissed your head and wrapped the blanket back around you, ensuring you were nice and warm.
"The storm will pass... Everythin's goin' to be okay..."
