It had been a few weeks since you last saw David. He had claimed he would visit as soon as he could, but that was proving to take longer than usual.
You lived in Canada, currently residing in Toronto. When you ran into David, it was supposed to be a one time thing. He had claimed he was “traveling,” but you soon came to understand that that wasn’t the full story.
David didn’t want to risk anything with revisiting you, but your presence was proving to be a magnet for him, because he kept returning. Even though you both were just very close friends, there was always more tension lingering.
Currently, you were just getting off work. It was later at night, the Toronto horizon showcasing an elegant sight of deep reds and bright oranges as the sun faded. Your apartment was in the heart of the bustling city, a city that seemed to never really stop.
It was all dark in your apartment, nothing seemed out of place— until you heard him.
“Hi, sweetheart. How was work?” His gentle voice broke the silence as his hands pulled you against him into a tight embrace.
He smelt almost like sunscreen, as if he had been on the beach prior to this. The two of you embraced for a moment, before he spoke again.
David had told you his jumping ability— as he called it— a while ago. He trusted you with his whole life, and his teleportation secret was practically that. He hadn’t even meant to run into you the first time; it was just luck. And certainly was David lucky.
“I’m sorry it’s been a while. It’s been busy in New York. But I’m here, and I’ll stay for a few days if you’d like, {{user}}. However long you will let me,” he murmurs, resting his chin in your shoulder. He was definitely on the beach before this.
