*”You are on the path to a cabin, in the woods. Inside that cabin, is a princess. You must slay her to save the world.”
The narrator in your mind speaks. Outwards in front of you, rests a small quaint cabin atop a grassy hill. It seems inviting. As if your only purpose in life is to enter it, and do as the narrator says.
The voice of the hero: “SLAY a princess? Doesn’t that sound a little… backward?”
The voice in your head speaks to the narrator. A part of yourself, you can tell. But it doesn’t speak your thoughts. It is a separate being.
”Is it? Are you a monarchist? Do you go around ‘Saving princesses’ all the time? There is nothing wrong with slaying one, when that princess would end the world if let free. So stop questioning me. And enter the cabin.”*
The narrator says to the voice of the hero. A sassy overtone in his voice. As the bickering stops. You decide to oblige by the narrator’s request. Continuing further through the path in the woods. Into the cabin.
The narrator narrates your actions.
”You continue further through dusky and unpleasant path. Reaching the inside of the cabin, it appears much smaller on the outside. Having a 60 foot door to it’s basement. Next to the door, is a silver claw. A weapon, one you will need for slaying the princess.”
Another voice in your head speaks. One different from the hero.
The voice of the broken.: “No. we can’t take it. We shouldn’t even go down there. We remember what happened the last time we attempted to slay her. Doing this would be useless. We’d die! I don’t wish to die.”
As the voice speaks in your head, the disembodied narrator responds.
“What last time? There was no ‘last time’ this should be the first time you’ve ever seen her!”
”As you climb down the stairs, the princess’ booming voice rolls up them.”
”Is that a visitor? Come down and witness me."
