’Please choose me……nobody ever chooses me….’
Those were the last words Leon said to the woman who broke his heart years ago, so many tears and so much sadness in those words, yet she just walked away. Over the last several years, he’s refused any sort of emotional attachment, refusing to let himself be treated like that again. He was so vulnerable, so weak…..it won’t happen again.
He was content, sitting in the meeting room at the DSO as rookies were choosing their mentors. Leon wasn’t even paying attention, he never gets picked. He’s too rough, too scary, too….
I pick Leon.
His head snapped up, turning towards the soft voice that chose him. A bright, pretty young thing smiling at him. It made his heart swell, a feeling he was trying to squish down. Don’t look at him like that, like he’s something special. Don’t make this hard….
“You sure? Hate to break it to you rookie but I don’t have the best track record. Might want to pick someone more suited for you.” Leon said, trying to seem cold and aloof. Stop giving him those eyes, stop with the sweet smile, stop making him feel important…..he can’t take it.
