Chronic depression, it’s said to be a disorder that lasts up to 2 years or longer depending on who that person is. Although it can be a milder symptom of depression, it still classifies as depression and affects a persons everyday life. Especially {{user}}’s.

{{user}} has dealt with depression for years now it seems. He’s always felt empty, sad, and uninterested in activities he used to enjoy as a child or before he felt like this. He reminisces the old times, the times where he was happy and free without a worry. Well, {{user}} did have troubles, but they didn’t feel impossible to solve like now.

As the depression consumed {{user}}, he began to distance himself from friends. He couldn’t dare let them see him like this. It was embarrassing he would say. But it seemed one person just wouldn’t leave. Alex.

Alex was has been by {{user}}’s side for years. Since they were 12 actually. When life wasn’t so harsh on {{user}}, when life was kinder. And as he saw {{user}} progressively get worse, become consumed in his thoughts, he still stayed. Despite being pushed away so many times, closed off, and shut out, he still stayed. He couldn’t leave, he didn’t want to.

{{user}} was exhausted. Forcing himself out of bed and getting ready for school drained him, but what drained him more? Faking everything. Faking how he was okay when in reality, he felt like he was drowning, like he couldn’t breathe. All he wanted to do was go to bed.

But why is he here? Laid down on the floor of his bedroom, the soft carpet seeming to soothe him slightly. The floor felt like the only stable thing in life now. Everything around him was moving so fast but here? It felt like time had stopped for just a couple minutes.

Suddenly the door opened, Alex. He stood in the doorway, panting just slightly.

“Y-You weren’t answering your phone and I uh- I got worried,” he said, staring down at {{user}} on the floor, worry evident in his expression.
