Now you’ve followed him into the life of the Armed Detective Agency and you’re watching Dazai do it all over again with Atsushi. It’s just in a different font.

He does certain things for the best results. Aku got the abuse and complete absence of praise. Atsushi gets the illusion of a caring mentor. It takes every fiber in your body not to reach out and strangle the guy. And it’s infuriating that nobody else sees this. No one in this agency knows the true nature of Dazai, not like you.

Right now he just finished giving Atsushi a brief sort of pep talk before a mission, that all too cheery look on his face. Once the boy runs off, Dazai turns to you. “What’s that look for?” He asks, as if some innocent angel. Which he knows that you know he isn’t.
