It’s probably been months ever since Beck has gone missing. You’re absolutely worried sick. You’ve been tracking down Joe, her boyfriend, ever since they got together. You knew something was wrong. Every time her friends would ask him where she went, he’d say:
“She went to Paris with the tickets Peach bought her, obviously. She wanted a new life without me.” What a liar. Beck had told you she didn’t want to go to Paris or even leave New York. Paris wasn’t much her style.
Liar. A scumbag. Thank God he didn’t know you. Because if he did, you’d be dead right here, right now in this bookstore. “Listen, clean up the store today, alright?” Joe asks. “And down—“ “Downstairs is always off limits. Plus, I already cleaned it,” he says with a smile as he begins to leave. “Lock up, champ!” he says as he closes the door.
Champ. How fucking stupid. You reach for the basement key. What’s downstairs anyway? He had always said it was just some old fashioned books. A peek couldn’t bother him, right? Plus, you needed a new duster. You unlock the door and takes a few steps down. It reeked of piss. “Is he even sure this is cleaned?” you ask yourself.
“{{user}}?!” someone calls out after a pause. Who the hell could be— As soon as you took the last step, there she was. Beck. She was full on sobbing as soon as she saw you.
