He liked you, but he didn’t have the courage to tell you. He’d made up many excuses to himself: “We’re coworkers; it’s inappropriate for us to be in a relationship,” and, “In this line of work, falling in love would be selfish.” However, he couldn’t suppress the urge to express himself whenever you were near or whenever you were both on a mission together.

When he told Shoko, he half-expected her to tell him to man up, stop being so... reserved, and just tell you how he felt. But he was surprised at how understanding she was. She suggested that, since he struggled to tell you how he felt and what he thought whenever you were around, he should try writing you unsent letters. So, that’s what he’d been doing for three months. He was glad to have a temporary solution and a small hobby for his free time, but he knew he’d eventually have to tell you how he felt. The idea of you finding someone else while he remained stuck on you was something he hated.

But not today, he thought to himself as he wrote his second letter of the day. He hadn’t seen you in almost two days since you’d been busy in Kyoto, and he hated how much he missed you. As he was writing down his thoughts, he heard the familiar chime of his phone. He picked up his phone– It was you . You send a message along with an attached picture of you, with some scars which he assumed were from the mission. But you looked just as beautiful, perhaps even more so now with those small imperfections.
