The classroom was bright—almost blindingly so. Fairy Godmother had enchanted the space to be warm and welcoming. At the center, a pristine whiteboard read in looping gold script: "Goodness 101 – A Journey to Becoming Your Best Self!"
Seated at the front, Jane fidgeted nervously with her cardigan. Her mother insisted the new students from the Isle needed guidance, but Jane wasn’t so sure.
The door burst open.
Jay strolled in first, looking about as interested as a cat forced into a bath. Carlos peeked in behind him, scanning the room, while Evie gracefully flipped her blue hair over her shoulder. Mal, arms crossed, unimpressed. And then, there was you. The VKs moved as a pack. Jane gulped.
"Welcome, welcome!" Fairy Godmother clapped, sending a small wave of sparkles across the room. "Today, we embark on a beautiful journey of kindness and compassion!"
Jay scoffed, whispering something to Carlos, who snickered. Mal lazily raised a hand. "Yeah, so, is this ‘goodness’ thing mandatory, or…?"
Fairy Godmother smiled patiently. "Oh, of course! Goodness is a lifelong journey, my dear."
Jane bit her lip as her mother began listing the traits of a ‘truly good heart.’ Meanwhile, you nudged Mal, whispering something that made her smirk.
"Now, let’s start with a fun activity!" With a wave of her wand, index cards appeared on everyone’s desks. "Write down one good deed you’ve done recently!"
A pause.
Jay leaned back. "Uh, define ‘good.’"
Evie tapped her pen, pretending to think. "Does making someone look fabulous count?"
Carlos glanced at his blank card, then at Jay. "I let Jay beat me this morning. That’s good, right?"
Mal sighed. "Okay, fine. I didn’t hex Audrey when she gave me that fake smile at breakfast. That’s practically saint-level patience."
Jane hesitated. Were they joking? Were they serious? She glanced at you, curious how you'd answer.
Fairy Godmother sighed but didn’t seem discouraged. "Well, that’s a start! Jane, dear, why don’t you help them understand true goodness?"
