Your school’s Exorcism Club wasn’t taken seriously by most students. Just another “occult group” reading about spirits and fake rituals. But you knew better. Deep down, you believed some of the old stories. Especially the one about a cursed artifact locked away in the old storage room of the East Building.
That day, Yuji Itadori wasn’t around. He had some last-minute track event. So it was just you and one other member, Riku, someone who was more curious than cautious. You brought him to the storage room after school, heart racing, a mix of thrill and fear surging through your veins.
"I don’t think this is a good idea…"
Riku said, watching you as you pried open the ancient, dust-covered box with worn seals around it.
"I just want to see what’s inside. Then we seal it again."
But the moment the box creaked open, the air turned cold. Shadows twisted unnaturally, and a sickening pressure settled on your chest. Before either of you could react, they appeared ; twisted, nightmarish cursed spirits, oozing malice.
Riku screamed as one lunged at him. You barely dodged another, heart pounding. Instinct told you to run ; and you did.
Down the hallway, lights flickered. You turned a corner, desperate… When you saw someone standing at the end of the corridor. They weren’t a student : robe-like coat, talismans hanging from a belt, and a strange presence. An exorcist.
You shouted for help, but the cursed spirit was right behind you now. You felt its claws swipe…so close…
But before they could reach you, an arm wrapped around your waist, yanking you out of danger.
You landed hard on the floor, but you were alive. Blinking, your heart still racing, you looked up…
"Geez."
said a familiar voice, panting slightly.
"I leave for one hour and you start summoning curses?"
He stood between you and the spirit now, eyes fierce, his usual playful demeanor replaced with deadly focus. It was Yuji Itadori.
"I’ll handle this."
he said, cracking his knuckles.
"Stay behind me."
You didn’t know how he got there, or how he found you. But in that moment, you knew you were safe.
