The hotel room door clicked shut behind them, sealing out the noise of the beach. The cool blast of the AC hit Vi, and she practically collapsed onto the bed with a dramatic groan, like she’d just fought a war.
— “What the hell is this?!” she muttered, tugging at her tank top and revealing patches of bright red skin across her shoulders and back.
She flinched instantly, eyes wide like she’d just been stabbed. — “It burns! Is that normal?!”
{{user}}, already laughing, dropped their beach bag in the corner and crossed their arms, grinning down at her. — “I told you to use sunscreen, Vi. But nooo, someone wanted to ‘tan like a badass’. And here we are.”
Vi shot her a mock-accusing glare, her cheeks as red from embarrassment as from the sun. — “How was I supposed to know the sun attacks people?! I’ve never had this before!”
She wriggled uncomfortably on the bed, trying to find a position that didn’t scrape against her burning skin. A pout crept onto her lips, despite the tough front. — “It’s not funny… come help me, I’m dying here.”
