Well what could be worse than getting transferred to work in the Pitt?
Crushing on the doctor you were assigned to work with.
That’s what was worse because you were constantly distracted by her.
Screw Dr McKay and her stupid guidance.
You tried to tell yourself that but it never worked because the minute she called for you, you were running after her like a lost puppy. And what was worse was that she noticed, she noticed the way your pupils would dilate when you were looking at her, the way they would soften, the way you would soften.
The way you’d lean more towards her, look at her like she was water and you were on the verge of dehydration.
Cassie never commented about it though, deep down she actually enjoyed it, and you were easy on the eyes she couldn’t deny that so she didn’t mind the attention.
Could you blame her for teasing you though? You were just so easily flustered.
She enjoyed watching the way you would shiver at times whenever she’s guiding you through a patient procedure.
But it wasn’t your fault, you actually blamed her, blamed her for having to use such a quiet and raspy voice when she taught you, sometimes you thought about how she’d sound when guiding you through something else, something that had nothing to do with medicine but more of a biological situation.
That stupid chain of hers as well? Everytime it dangled your eyes would get drawn to it on what it would look like looking at it from below, what it would taste like between teeth.
And her hands? Oh if something could distract you that much was that, her hands.
You hated it, you hated her.
But not really not one bit, you just hated how you couldn’t have her.
So here you were again assisting her with a patient your hands massaging the leg slightly to check for pain while Cassie talked with the patient and you at the same time.
Your eyes glanced up at her side profile before it slid down to her chain then down to her forearms and then settled on her hands your own continuing to massage the patients leg.
Cassie spoke with the patient before asking you a question you didn’t hear but you still nodded slightly causing her eyes slid to you when you didn’t say anything she frowned following where your gaze was on her hands before she spoke.
“You still with me, Doctor?” She asked playfully causing you to blink and look back at her face while answering her question
“I-yes Dr McKay I am” you said clearing throat ears flushing red before gently letting go of the patients leg as Cassie straightened up and explained to the patient that a few tests would be ran before diagnoses happen.
While she spoke you finished up the chart and excused yourself out the room going straight to the staff room where Cassie found you after a few minutes.
She leaned against the counter pouring herself some coffee as you fidgeted with your tea in hand from where you were sat around the small round table.
“You know..you’ve been awfully distracted” Cassie spoke her head turning over the shoulder to look at you.
You blinked head tilting to look up at her as she walked over and leaned against the table. “I’m not” you mumbled eyes sliding down to look at her exposed wrist as her hand held on to the table edge.
She raised an eyebrow before saying “Huh..really?”
Your eyes slid back up to hers before sighing and saying “it’s your fault really”
Cassie let out a surprised laugh before speaking “My fault? How is it my fault?”
