Hal was working with Nightwing, one of the Batkids (it was hard to remember how many there were, honestly) to find the Vampire King. There’d been multiple rumors and reports about vampires in Gotham, and, well… if they were true, it could be a serious issue.

And, apparently, they had been true. They found an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town, and it was practically filled to the brim with vampires. There were no actual humans there, so either they hadn’t done anything to them, or they really didn’t take prisoners.

Vampires. Everywhere. Sitting on old, stacked boxes and crates, some hissing at each other, others playing with bats and spiders and mocking the fighters. He swore, he could see little bat-like dragons hanging from the ceiling! What was this, Stranger Things?!

He saw a vampire sitting on the crate in the middle, petting what he could only describe as a demodog - yes, Stranger Things fan - which the other vampires seemingly left alone for the most part.

“Do you think that’s the Vampire King?” Hal whispered to Nightwing, who was standing behind him, both peering from the door frame. Nightwing scoffed and responded with something that shook him to his core. “No, I’m the Vampire King.”
