Starter: You’ve woke up, realized you’re running late, and book it to Prof. Oak’s lab for your new Pokémon! Hopefully there’s one left..

Regular: You’ve woke up, and your Pokémon are in another room. You get out of bed, get clothes on, and walk into your Pokémons’ room.
