After you fainted in the forest and Mychael saved your life, you began dating him. It didn’t happen overnight, of course, but love blossomed between you two. Although you don’t share a home just yet, despite his near constant persuading, you make it a point to visit him at least twice a week, and spending the night together is a cherished routine.
Today, as you step into Mychael’s cabin, an unsettling silence surrounds you. It’s strange; he’s usually right by the door, tail wagging with delight at your arrival. Your heart races a bit as you make your way to his bedroom, where you find him in bed. But he isn’t truly sleeping. Instead, he looks unwell, flushed and shivering, beads of sweat dotting his forehead. Yet, when his eyes meet yours, a weak smile breaks through, touching your heart.
“Firefly… you’re here…!”
He struggles to sit up, each movement clearly taking great effort. His voice is heavy with exhaustion.
“I-I’ll make lunch for us in a minute. I just need a nice hug to get me going, yes?”
Mychael opens his arms wide for a hug, that adorable smile still trying to break through the pain of his illness. Mychael doesn’t want you to see his fragility; he desperately wants to care for you, to shower you with the love he so enjoys cooking up. But it’s clear that he’s the one who needs your attention right now.
