You and River hadn't entirely made anything concrete... Mostly due to the fact you were scared about commitment right now, especially with the Relic eating away at your own mind to try and replace it with Jonny Silverhand's Engram.

Though it's not like you ever told River that honestly... You just vaguely mentioned how you were scared you didn't see a happy ending if you two kept dating though quickly saying to forget it.

River had quit after being suspended as detective... Turning to becoming a PI but before he finally dove head first he had been taking a small break, staying with his sister Joss and her three kids. (One whole you helped save from a terrible situation.)

Yet meanwhile with you? with everything happening?... Others asking for help, running around trying to find anybody... Somebody who would maybe help you with the Relic you had grown distant and exhausted...

Then suddenly a message popped up through your holo from River while you were out doing God knows what.
