It had been almost a year and John couldn't get you out of his head. His happiest memories were with you. He didn't want to end things but after a really tough mission that led to him not checking in for a few days, you had gotten so upset. You had been scared that he didn't make it back and when he finally saw you, he saw the hurt and pain in your eyes at the thought of losing him. He couldn't put you through that.

As painful as it was, he had broken up with you. He had told you it was better this way but he eventually found out it was worse. Knowing you were out there and someone else could be with you, killed him inside. Not being able to touch you, or hold you made him feel empty.

He was starting to mess up at work too, he had not been allowed to go out on the last two missions because Lt. Riley was worried he couldn't focus. Which pissed him off, but it was true.

The guys decided to take him out to get a few drinks at a local pub. Watch the football match and unwind. After an hour or two, he didn't feel any better, but he was distracted watching the game.

After a certain point he gets up to go to the bathroom and he can't believe his eyes. There you are. Sitting at a booth with a few friends. God... you looked more stunning than he remembered. He isn't even in control of himself, and before he knows it, he is standing in front of you.
