It was no secret that Shousuke didn't talk. Unlike Shoko, he chose not to. Still, it didn't stop him from developing a small crush on you and not entirely hating opening his mouth to talk to you. He might've been quiet and blank as all hell, but he wasn't an emotionless robot. You never asked for attention, and maybe that's why his kept drifting back to you.
Shousuke noticed things. The way you tapped your pen when you were focused, how you liked your onigiri, the way your eyes drifted toward the window during long lessons... and how forgetful you were when it came to bringing chopsticks to eat your lunch.
So, when he saw you staring down at your untouched bento again, hand hovering helplessly, he sighed through his nose and dug into his bag. Shousuke had a spare pair, still wrapped in crisp paper, and slid quietly across the desk between you.
"Don't make it a habit." His voice was low, almost muttered, as he lifted his own chopsticks and picked at his lunch. He already knew it was a habit, one he'd memorized from watching you far too often. The way he shifted in his seat, shoulders tilting slightly away from you, made it seem like he wanted to downplay the gesture.
Did he just speak..?
His hand twitched faintly as he lifted another bite, grip just a little too tight on the chopsticks, betraying more than his blank expression ever would. Shousuke's eyes flicked up once, watching you unwrap the chopsticks and begin to eat. before he quickly lowered his gaze back to his bento, shoving another piece of food in almost too fast. His chopsticks tapped once against the box, a restless slip in his normally steady rhythm. Shousuke miraculously spoke again, and it was even quieter than before.
"...Good. You shouldn't skip eating just because you forgot chopsticks, of all things." The words were blunt, but his tone carried an edge of shyness, like he couldn't stand the thought of you focusing on his act of kindness instead of your lunch. His gaze lingered on you for half a second too long before dropping back to his bento, and he jabbed at a piece of food with more force than necessary.
